TV's Secret Weapon

Whether we like it or not television is present in most people's lives. People, just like myself, use television as a stress release at the end of their day. During this time your just supposed to stare at the screen and engage   yourself to watch is going on. Little people know the shows they are watching are using gap filling to draw them in order to draw viewers.

I myself do not consider my favorite television shows to use that much gap filling. Two of my favorites Breaking Bad and Dexter rely on the use of cliff hangers and suspense to draw in viewers and keep them wanting more. Gap Filling is known as what the reader brings to the table. You as the reader, then brings assumptions, experiences and knowledge of similar texts to construct the meaning. It seems more basic cable shows use gap filling the most. It is shows like South Park and others that do not present things like cliff hangers that gap fill.
