Re-branding Band-Aids
Are band-aids catering only to the white population? In short, yes. Because their band-aids normally come in the color of beige which most looks like Caucasian' s person skin. Thinking about the idea of white privilege my eyes were open to many advantages that as a white person, I take for granted. But as well, this concept got me thinking of what would occur if say Band-aid began making band-aids in all different skin colors. What would they call the different skin colors? Would it create back lash for the company? Thinking about our culture today, the public eye usually has the extremes and no happy medium. It would be interesting if companies could find the happy medium in their advertising between stereotyping and ignoring cultures altogether with the white privilege. I actually don't think it is possible because Americans pay attention to extremes more than bland advertisements I think if companies tried to be sensitive to cultures and white privilege that would not create enough buzz to get the consumers attention.
