oppressed

During the viewing of the inauguration, there were many choices that CNN made that perhaps GFN would not have made.  The statue on top of the building was mentioned and I found it very interesting that such an emphasis was put on the fact that the statue was of a woman.  I like that CNN showed the statue, but I think GFN would have shown the statue closer up, so to really see it.  I feel that if GFN were to have broadcasted the inauguration, they would have really emphasized the president’s speech at the end, coupling it with powerful images of maybe the gay pride parade or a protest from the 70’s.  I think this because President Obamas speech at the end was very feminist in nature I believe.  I think this because he specifically states that our journey has to keep going and fighting until our gay friends and relatives can marry and until everybody receives equal pay for the work that they do.  I think they would of shown those images because pictures are worth a thousand words so coupling the pictures of oppressed with his words about fighting for the oppressed it would drive his point home more.  I think GFN would find this to be the most effective way of getting the feminist perspective agreed with.
