Unfortunate Truth

Marx’s explanation of how the ruling class operates is eye-opening and is discomforting.  Basically, every civilization rally’s around a false ideology creating a false consciousness.  For the United States, we believe that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.  In other words, successful people are work hard and unsuccessful people are lazy.  This exists because the ruling class maintains the status quo through the domination of both the material force and intellectual force.  In other words, the people that produce things and ideas are the ones who control mental production.  So, those who do not possess these forces are subject to the ideas of the ones who do possess those forces. It makes perfect sense because those who are in control of mental processes would obviously want to maintain their control.  And because they control ideas and want to maintain control, it is easy to create a false identity for the lower classes to adhere to.  Heroes are people who are examples of the false ideology.  They are extremely rare cases but still reinforce the false ideas in the minds of the lower classes.  Every society has a false identity that allows for the elite to maintain power.
