Barbie was marketed correctly
After reading the Barbie article for class on Monday I realized how well Barbie was marketed by Matel. The author of the article touches on some of the fact that Barbie was big, but doesn't go into the actual marketing behind the brand. I think that the Barbie was marketed to be placed in every single scenario that it could be and Matel did a great job of milking this. Barbie was in McDonald Happy Meals as collectors bought McDonald's products for the sake of getting the Barbie. Barbie also would come out with limited edition and collectors edition dolls during holidays or for current events. This reminds me of owning Beanie Babies when I was a kid. These toys had a special edition product every holiday of the year that was introduced and consumers wanted them. TY if I'm not mistaken was the company that produced them and also followed an alike pattern of releasing their products. But Barbie has been around for a lot longer and is still relevant today. With a marketing strategy like this I think Barbie would be not only of interest for a marketing analysis paper but a relevant and thought provoking topic for me in the future.
