The notion that was brought up in class that Barbie depicts an image to young women that they are supposed to be perfect in every single way. Whether it be when it comes to looks or the possessions a young women has, according to this notion, they are expected to be "Barbie-Like." This obviously is unrealistic in today's world.
The way our economy has been in recent years and the overall state of our country financially contradicts this type of lifestyle. One can even say the same when it comes to toys the boys play with. Based on the prototypical figure put out, it puts together the notion that males ought to be jacked with muscles and fearless when it comes to danger. Again, this notion brought about is out of the norm because most men are not that "beefy" to such a high extent. These companies that are also present in other forms of media are notorious for promoting this depiction of how males and females are supposed to grow up. If it's the case that our youth falls for this "life perception" they could in for a rude wakeup call in the "real world."
