You go Obama

I believe that if I was a commentator from the Global Feminist Network and had to comment on Obama's inauguration speech, most of my comments would be positive and in support of Obama and his ideas. Through out the speech Obama stressed the idea of equality, which is a key belief of the Global Feminism movement. He stressed the idea of progressing together as a nation and stated that his goals for the next term were to make laws that push for equality for both gays and women. I thought this was a revolutionary inauguration because he addressed so many real and prevalent issues that our generation is facing. It is no longer something that can be ignored, now more than ever we see the growing voice of equality. No longer is it just the fight for the "middle-class."

If I were to produce this inauguration I would include clips of the every day lives and activities of gay couples because a lot of people have such a narrow and ignorant viewpoint on how they lead their lives. Growing up in a generation where being gay is a lot more acceptable and being exposed to it almost on a daily basis, I have a very different view than those who have not been exposed to it.

I think as part of GFN the "talking head" would be assigned to a prominent woman, that's colored, and has a lot of credibility as a scholarly writer. She will depict a figure that redefines all the norms on what it means to be qualified to talk during the inauguration. After all, most of the men who talked during the inauguration were the classic white, heterosexual male. Why do we still have that image engrained in our head as being the  norm when there is so much diversity in our society?

The twitter stream will be positive and supportive of Obamas ideas. There will be a lot of diversity on the people who tweet their ideas because a lot of them can relate to the ideas and issues addressed during the speech.
