Fake Celebrities

               Growing up with two sisters I always hear them talk about celebrities like Britney Spears and other singers but lately they are getting on the bandwagon with reality stars like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.  I hate to admit it but I have seen the recent episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians and I was told the quick background of why Kim was popular and in a matter of a few minutes I was caught up.  Keeping up with the Kardashian’s is somehow addicting I am not sure why but I started watching episode after episode.  Even though all I knew was that Kim was hot and that she had a sex tape I still was caught up in her life.  I quickly was able to leave the couch and move on with my life but there was a few hours of my life that I was caught up with Kim’s life.  I ask myself now why?

                So is Kim really a celebrity in people’s eyes?  I believe that she is a Celeactor because she is someone who acheieved fame through a media event.  She is a fixture of popular culture.  She is popular because she has the sex tape with Ray Jay but at the same time she made that into something else, she became popular because of that and she turned that into her getting a perfume and a clothes line.  I don’t think that she earned her living what so ever and that is just how life is.  People now can become celebrities by making a popular YouTube clip.  I don’t agree with it but that is just how it is.
