Today's prototypical celebrity is vividly different to what they were like in the past. Before when one actually needed to have some type of talent to be famous. Now, all one needs is to have an extreme amount of wealth to be famous. Unfortunately, our society has grown into this and it seems like it will not be changing anytime soon.
While the average TV viewer is flipping through the channels on basic cable, it is filled with individuals who basically embrace being a degenerate in order to get attention. Even though this works and creates the individual to receive fame, I still do not think it is deserved at all. In reality, television networks are creating a movement through media with the fans. This is known as participatory culture. In relation, media convergence is known as different forms of media combine of central themes. So that being said, media is catering to what we want to watch. Therefore, ourselves are the driving force that is creating these people to become "celebrities."
